A Massive World. The world of Arcanum is huge - it would take 20 game days to walk from one end of the continent to the other, which translates to 48 hours of continuous real-time play. |
More than 70 different types of monsters and animals. Each of these creatures, in turn, has four variations for a total of 280 types of beast on the prowl. Beyond these creatures of darkness, there are more than 300 unique characters throughout Arcanum that gamers will come into contact and interact with during their journey. | | Flexible Gameplay. The true key to Arcanum's appeal is its adaptability. Arcanum does not impose any play style upon the gamer. Arcanum allows the gamer to choose his style of play, and the game engine will support whatever decision he makes. | | Character Creation. Like most RPG's, Arcanum allows in-depth character creation. This difference is Arcanum uses a point-based system. These points are used to buy stats, skills and other attributes. The system is, therefore, classless. | | Quests. Arcanum has one major path through the game, but it avoids linearity by allowing each main quest to be solved in multiple ways. | | Advanced Engine Supports Gameplay. Arcanum runs in 800x600 mode, in either 16-bit or 24-bit colour. Beyond the graphics, however, the engine is a tool that actually serves the gameplay and draws players into the world on screen |
