Special Edition Mallard World Speed Record 75th Anniversary - DCC Ready Locomotive. On 3rd July 1938, Mallard No. 4468 claimed an immortal place in railway history by securing the world steam speed record. With driver Joe Duddington at the controls, and backed up by fireman Tommy Bray, the locomotive reached 126mph (202km/h) - a record unbeaten to this day. Mallard is preserved and is part of the National Collection at York.
