A spreading tree with heart-shaped, glossy green leaves and white mulberries which ripen to pink and red in late summer. Unlike the black mulberry, this tree will produce fruit fairly quickly though the crop is much lighter but the fruit has a strong flavour and a deeper colour. Both the white and black mulberry are trouble-free trees that have been grown in Britain for hundreds of years. They can tolerate a wide range soils provided they are well-drained.
