The Rockhopper A1 FS Pro has incredibly high quality components to making riding it both easy and enjoyable. Components are durable so that you know they will last and the frame is both lightweight and strong. Finishing touches like Body Geometry technology in the saddle add to making the ride experience comfortable. |
FRAME | The frame is made from A1 aluminium which is not only an incredibly lightweight material, but also easily manipulated. This allows Specialized to add more material to strengthen vunerable areas, while not increasing the weight elsewhere. Gussets on the A1 Pro FS are specific to the loads which are put through them to further strengthen the frame. Compression gussets evenly split the load down each side of the downtube to avoid a single concentration of stress. They also help to avoid the adjuster knobs on the suspension fork don't hit the downtube. Spear gussets evenly disperse loads away from the welds on the top tubes. The A1 Pro FS frame is also fully disc compatible, should you choose to upgrade later. | SUSPENSION | The Rockshox Judy XC fork uses all travel so that you can choose between 63, 80 or 100mm of travel with no kits required. Hydracoil uses an oil bath damper which constantly lubes moving parts for smooth running and sensitivity to smaller bumps. The Homer Valve blows off excess pressure as you encounter bigger hits. 12mm of negative travel helps to prevent the fork topping out. | DRIVETRAIN | The rear derailleur on the A1 FS Pro is XT. This has an alloy construction for lightweight strength. It also has four fluorine coated pivot pins which reduce friction to give a lighter and more precise shifting action. At the front is a Deore front derailleur which has a reinforced chain guide. This is more rigid and strong. Deore shifters use a short stroke action which is light and responsive to reduce fatigue. They also use Rapidfire which enables you to shift while maintaining contact with the brake levers. | BRAKING | Pro-Max linear pull brakes are teamed with Shimano Deore levers for a strong braking performance. | WHEELS & TYRES | Mavic X139 rims have machined sidewalls for added strength. Specialized provide the tyres with Team Control Pro at the front and Team Master Pro at the rear. These are made from a long wearing durable compound. Wide faces on the centre knobs serve to provide lower rolling resistance while the tread and tie bar design increases traction |
