Specialized combine durable and reliable components with a lightweight frame in the Hardrock A1 Comp FS. Added features such as the Body Geometry saddle make this a comfortable and pleasurable ride. |
FRAME | The A1 Premium Aluminium frame is heat-treated for additional strength. A1 is a lightweight material, which also has properties which make it very manipulable. This means that Specialized can strengthen strategic areas of the frame, while also being able to reduce materials in areas where it isn't needed. The result is a lightweight frame which is also strong. | DRIVETRAIN | The 24 speed drivetrain on the Hardrock A1 Comp is derived from Shimano. Alivio provides the front derailleur and shifters, while the rear derailleur comes from Deore. This uses eleven tooth pulleys to reduce wear and extend life of the mech. Also, two fluorine coated pivot pins are used which reduce friction and make shifting lighter. | SUSPENSION | Suspension has been proven by a Rockshox study to improve the health of riders by reducing impact on the body. Front suspension also is crucial to novice cyclists as it helps steering and improves control of the bike when riding over rough terrain. The Hardrock FS uses a Rockshox Jett S which has the pre-load adjusters. | BRAKES | Specialized forged alloy linear pull brakes are used with Competition 3 finger levers. | WHEELS AND TYRES | Specialized use Ground Control tyres on their Hardrock range. These are made from a durable long-wearing compound. They also have an open tread design which is suited to both on and off road applications. It provides the traction which is necessary to install confidence when riding off road |
