A fantastic bike from Marin provides a solid yet lightweight frame that is ideal for upgrades. The componentry is both durable and dependable. |
| FRAME | The frame is made from Ovation alloy 7005 series. This is double butted for strength while maintaining a light weight. Marin have "edge" tubing custom drawn for them. These use larger diameter tubes which are stiffer and enable Marin to reduce the thickness of the walls. This not only decreases the weight of the frame but also increases its handling capabilities. Making the utmost of its light, stiff and strong capabilities, this frame becomes the perfect platform for front suspension. Marin frames also come with a lifetime frame guarantee. | DRIVETRAIN | Shimano dominate the drivetrain on the Palisades. Alivio shift levers use Shimano's Rapidfire shifting mechanism which enables you to shift while keeping your hands over your brake levers. The ergonomically positioned finger and thumb levers also contribute to a quick action. Alivio is also used for the front derailleur. The rear derailleur is Deore which has two fluorine coated pivot pins which reduce friction to give a lighter and more precise shifting action. | SUSPENSION | The suspension on the Palisades is a Manitou Magnum. This provides 76mm of travel through a coil/MCU base. Magnesium is used on the lower legs to make the fork lightweight. Manitou forks have grease ports which means that they can be easily maintained using Manitou's M-Prep grease and gun. | BRAKING | Marin use their own brand, Ovation, for the brakes. Ovation linear spring brakes and controlled by Ovation 3 finger levers. | WHEELS & TYRES | Ritchey Rock rims are used on the Palisades. This is combined with an IRC Mythos tyre. These tyres have a paddle type centre tread which gives confidence-enhancing traction on climbs aswell as improving braking performance. | | The Palisades Trail if a fantastic mid-range hardtail bike. It combines a high quality lightweight frame with durable components and that little touch of Marin class. | |
