2012 was the second driest year in the Douro Valley since records began in 1967. Above average temperatures in June were followed by more moderate ones in July and August, resulting in a gradual ripening of the fruit. Picking started on the 12th September, 10 days later than normal. These near-drought conditions produced wines which show excellent concentration, balance and purity of fruit.
