A range of automatic, linear fixed voltage regulators that are designed to supply a constant regulated output voltage of either 5V DC or 12V DC. These devices operate by sensing the actual output of the voltage regulator and comparing it against an internal reference voltage. The error produced by this comparison is inverted and used to compensate the regulator output. This feedback loop thus gives a stable output voltage that is ideal for fixed voltage use in applications such as on-card regulation for elimination of noise and distribution problems associated with single-point regulation.
