First Skirmish of the Battle of Britain

On July 10th 1940, a convoy was detected by a reconnaissance Dornier Do17P. Six Spitfires of No.74 Sqn (Hornchurch) including K9953/ZP-A flown by Flight Lt. Adolf 'Sailor' Malan, intercepted but were outnumbered by more than 20 Bf 109s. Despite this they forced the Dornier to crash land, whilst only taking damage to two Spitfires.
