2000 was a great year for Donna. She had a very busy European Cup, with 51.78 for 2nd at 400m, 23.14 for 6th at 200m, and then the anchor leg (51.05) on Britains relay third place. A week later she reduced her personal best for 200m to 23.08 at Budapest. She won the AAA 400m in 50.94 and, benefiting from training with Cathy Freeman during the summer, had a brilliant win at 300m at Gateshead in 35.71. She then confirmed a leap forward into top world class at the Olympic Games, where she reduced her personal best from 50.85 to 50.77 in the quarter-final, 50.21 in the semi and 49.79 in the final of the 400m. She contributed legs of 50.4 and 50.3 to the relay team, which came sixth in the final.
