Sugdens CDMaster Compact Disc Player is a high performance unit, benefiting from over three decades of digital audio experience. The player is an integrated front loading unit with dual case construction combined into a single unit. The lower tier houses the isolated transport mechanism and digital/analogue output stages. The upper tier provides accommodation for the microprocessor, digital display, function controls power supplies, mains inlet and mains filter.

The transport mechanism is a heavily modified Philips 12.1 short loader. This is combined with a decoder and digital servo system with conversion through a DAC 7 18bit x 4 times oversampling hybrid IC. All digital filtering, noise shaping and analogue conversions are carried out on original Sugden circuit boards designed in house. The final analogue output has zero feedback and is a low impedance voltage reference stage and using discreet components throughout.

There are no fewer than seven regulated power supplies employed by the CDMaster ensuring minimal mutual inducements of spuriae from the digital elements to the analogue output section
