To achieve a smooth rotation along the tripod heads horizontal axis. a telescopes center of gravity must be as close as possible to the rotational axis. It is for that reason that on our telescopes the tripod foot is located beneath the viewing appliances center of gravity. When attaching a camera (e.g. TLS 800, DCA, DCB), however, the center of gravity shifts. A balance rail is necessary to compensate for this.
