The cranks on this chainset are so strong that they're also used on Shimano's downhill chainset. But that doesn't mean that they're heavy: it uses the hollowtech forging process and Super-Duraluminium which means that it is also incredibly lightweight. Four arm design is also incorporated which further decreases weight while actually improving the strength. The splined crank mount means that this chainset can provide ultimate in strength of the crank - bottom bracket mount. The XTR works with the M952 splined bottom bracket.
