Based on the high Monte Bello Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains (site of a former winery dating back to 1885), it has been impeccably managed by proponent of ecologically sustainable viticulture Paul Draper (winner of innumerable Winemaker of the Year titles) since 1969. Rich and spicy blackberry aromas with warm, wrap-around vanilla tones. This is all held together by its structure and firm acidity. The mix is 74 Zinfandel, 17 Carignane 6
