The first Alp is what the Mont Ventoux is known as. It stands alone dominating the skyline of the Rhone valley. At its feet you can find a profusion of vineyards and vignerons who are off the beaten track for a Cotes du Rhone but rejoice under the appelation Cotes de Ventoux. The same grapes are deployed but in a marginally cooler climate which leads to wines of a more intense nature than their valley floor cousins.
