The sequel to Alfa Systems vertical shooter for the G-Net arcade system, Castle Shikigami 2 was originally developed for the more powerful NAOMI arcade hardware and introduces two new characters to the series curious modern-fantasy setting. The game, which plays like a traditional shooter in the style of Ikaruga, enables gamers to control flying humans instead of ships. Featuring advanced particle systems, large-scale bosses, and tons of action on screen, the game marries the traditional 2D gameplay of classic shooters like R-Type with turning and twisting 3D polygonal backgrounds found in more modern shooter offerings. Part one was released in the west under the title Mobile Light Force 2.
