Unbranded Fremondo Greco 2013, Sannio
As the name suggests, the Greco grape is thought to be of Greek origin, the ancestor of grapes first brought to Italy in around 700 BC by the ancient Greeks. This example comes from a winemaking cooperative based in the south of Italy close to Naples. Though pale in colour and delicate in aroma, this wine has a full texture, dense with apricot and peach flavour, and heady honeysuckle notes on the nose, and a long mineral finish. Great with rich seafood. Try with monkfish in a creamy herb butter
