Unbranded Alain Grignon Carignan Vieilles Vignes 2010, PGI
An indigenous grape variety of the Languedoc, Carignan produces dark ruby red wines with plenty of body, and are said to be a great expression of the rugged heathland terroirs close to the medieval city of Carcassonne. This example from Alain Grignon is harvested from vines aged around 40 years old, with the low yields of the old vines allowing the grapes to develop great intensity of flavour. Dark ruby red in colour, this wine is crammed with inky berry and cherry fruit, with a hint of vanilla
