Joseph Phelps makes some of the most sophisticated wines in Napa and this Cabernet from the excellent 2005 vintage is a great example. With a complex and almost Bordelais nose of pencil lead, cedar, cassis and blueberry, the palate has a lush texture, purity and balance only found in truly fine wine. It should evolve nicely over the next decade or so.
