Trials of a variety of leading Micro-Lights were conducted in the New Forest of Hampshire Southern England and on Dartmoor military training areas in Southwest England by Lieutenant Commander Alan Cronin MBE and Mr Colin Towell (an ex SERE instructor and Royal Navy survival expert). The objective was to find the best Micro-Light for covert and military use. The trials took place within the escape and evasion phase of a military training exercise. The scenario that was followed during the evaluation trial was that of a 'High Risk of Capture' individual isolated behind enemy lines and in a non-permissive environment where movement controls were in effect. The aggressor force comprised 60 army commandos with helicopter vehicle and tracker dog teams' support. They compared the performance of six micro-flashlights and their summary was That where the situation requires an evader to signal his location to a rescue unit using a micro flashlight that the flashlight of choice should be the Photon Micro-Ligh
