Marzocchi's innovative 2002 piece provides up to date technology for endurance riders. This is the fork that rides for longer with less effort or maintenance and is lighter weight. |
| WEIGHT 3lb (1370g) | TRAVEL 80mm or 100mm | CONSTRUCTION | The Marathon features the new magnesium Monolight one piece arch and leg. It shaves 150grams off the traditional 3 piece system, but doesn't shave anything off performance or quality. It offers greater torsional and lateral rigidity to provide steering precision and dependandable performance. The crown on these forks uses Marzocchi's Cryofit boltless method. This means an incredibly precise fit to mean that every stanchion is thoroughly checked to mean it has exactly the right tolerance. This way of bonding the stanchions to the crown doesn't just make it stronger, but it also cuts down on weight by not using any of the traditional glue or bolts. The cryofit crown has M arch, not just for style or sleek lines. It provides incredible strength and steering rigidity. Independant leg movement is almost completely eliminated. It reduces fork flex for a plusher ride. Further weight savings come from the 30mm aluminium Marathon stanchions. It comes with cross-country international standard disc brake mounts | FUNCTION | The Marathon S uses the all new doppio (dual) air system. This means that there are two low pressure positive air chambers - one in each leg and one negative air chamber which are all adjustable via the top of the fork. Low pressure is used in Marzocchi's air springs for a number of reasons. It reduces internal pressure on the seals which reduces static leakage and meaning that inflation is required less frequently. The Marathon also uses the ECC Extension Control Cartridge. This gives you three settings to tune the fork to the trail. The full open position is for fast downhilling as it offers the most in comression and rebound damping response. It has a medium position for fast starts and rocky climbs for less bob but compliance when you need it. In the final position with full rebound damping lockout for when the going is smooth and you need the acceleration. This also reduces ride height on climbs because it locks in the compressed position. As with all Marzocchi forks, the Marathon uses a open oil | MAINTENANCE | One of the more amazing features of the Marathon is that it rides for so long without needing relubing or maintenance. This is partially due to the open bath system which uses oil to constantly lube and cool the system. The open bath system is used in both legs to provide superior durability. Bomber seals have a double lip seal design made from custom rubber for maximum resistance to wear without increasing stiction. The length of the bushings allows for maximum load dispersion. |
