| FRAME | The frame on this bike uses A1 aluminium. Specialized use this alloy as it allows them greater control through the frame building process which means that they can manipulate it to make a frame that is lighter and stronger. The most obvious feature is the "aggro" inspired downtube which increases frame strength by dissipating forces that impact on the headtube. A sloping top tube on this bike also adds to an overall strong frame, while also allowing for more confidence inspiring standover clearance and greater steering control. Disc mounts mean that this frame remains upgradeable. | SUSPENSION | 63mm of travel comes from the Suntour M-7800 fork. This also allows Preload adjustement which means that the fork can be tuned more precisely to your bodyweight to ensure a more responsive ride. Front suspension provides many functions on a do-all bike like the Hardrock. It eases out the bumps that you may encounter along the trail which mean that steering remains precise and controllable. It has also been proven by a study in a German university to improve the health of riders by reducing the impact of vibrations on their bodies. | DRIVETRAIN | The Drivetrain comes from Shimano Acera to provide 24 speed riding. The LP-28 bottom bracket has sealed cartridge bearings for increased durability through protection from muck. The Acera rear mech has eleven tooth pulleys which last longer by providing an alternating tooth contact, and low friction fluorine coated pivot bushings to provide a lighter and more precise shifting action. Acera EZ shifters allow shifting while keeping the hands safely covering the brake levers. | BRAKING | Linear pull V brakes are provided on the Hardrock. These are made from forged alloy. They are teamed with Shimano Acera levers which have adjustable reach. | WHEELS AND TYRES | Alex DM-20 double wall rims provide extra strength on the Hardrock. These are teamed with Specialized Rockster tyres.
