FRAME |
The Fire Mountain's frame is made from 7005 Aluminium which is a superbly lightweight material. This is butted to increase strength by adding material where it is needed, but also maintain a light weight through not putting extra material where it isn't. The Fire Mountain has a shorter top tube than other Kona cross country hardtails to provide a more comfort orientated recreational riding position. A compact rear triangle design is used for efficient acceleration. It also uses Kona's tested sloping frame design for greater stand-over clearance. | DRIVETRAIN | Shimano is used throughout the 24 -speed drivetrain for reliability and durability. Acera -X is used for both the front and rear derailleurs. The rear derailleur has two fluorine coated pivot pins which reduce friction to give a lighter action and improved performance. Rapidfire shifters are used which allows easy shifting while hands are on the brake lever. | SUSPENSION | The InSync 266 fork provides 70mm of travel. | BRAKING | Tektro brakes are combined with Rapidfire brake levers. Rapidfire enables the rider to keep in contact with the brake lever while shifting. | WHEELS & TYRES | Hutchinson Cameleon tyres are used on the Fire Mountain. These tyres, as the name suggests are versatile enough to cope with a variety of terrains. They cope equally well with wet or dry conditions and have a tread design which both optimises ground contact and gives superb traction |
