Gary Fisher Sugar 2
The Sugar 2 frame is made from lightweight 6061 T6 aluminium. It is double butted which adds material to the areas of the frame that it is needed for additional strength, without hindering it through using material where is isnt necessary to keep it light. It features lightweight and rigid carbon fibre stays. Torsional rigidity in the swingarm mean that the ride performance can be more like a hardtail. The mainframe is increased in rigidity by a 2" diameter bi-oval downtube. Quality also comes from hand-welding on the main frame. The dropouts are pivot free which offers less to shake rattle or loosen, and reduce the need for maintenance. Gary Fishers b*link suspension design eliminates the need for these heavy, sloppy pivots. It also features Genesis geometry. This places more rider weight over the rear wheel so that you can gain more traction to climb more efficiently. Positioning of weight like this further behind the front wheel also means that descending confidence. Shorter arm movement
The rear shock on the Sugar 2 is a Cane Creek AD-12 air shock to give 2.8" travel. This shock has convenient external adjusters for compression and rebound. The need for maintenance is reduced by the Delrin seal bushing, Nitrile O rings and wipers which keep invasive elements out. It also features a 6000 series aluminium construction for durability and lightweight. Suspension at the front comes from the Manitou Mars Elite which offers 80mm of travel. This fork uses TPC twin piston damping. One piston is optimised for compression and one is optimised for rebound. This system is low-pressure and high volume to reduce heat related problems. It uses Manitous air/coil spring which gives a plush ride and tunability without weight gain. One piece magnesium outers are rigid and keep the weight light.
The drivetrain on the sugar is equally yummy. The XTR rear derailleur has four fluorine coated pivots for a light and more precise action. Eleven tooth pulleys reduce wear. It also has a light and durable alloy construction. Deore XT for the front derailleur has a reinforced chaincage for a stronger action. XT shifters are easy to reach and have a lightweight action to reduce fatigue. Time ATAC pedals provide great grip and also mean effective power transfer. The Bontrager Race splined crank uses a splined interface which offers greater power transfer and a more rigid crank/bottom bracket interface.
The brakes on the Sugar 2 come from Avid Single Digit 5. These brakes use force vector alignment which means more of the force is transferred directly at the rim. These are teamed with Deore XT brake levers which use servo wave so the modulation can be adjusted to the challenges of the trail.
This system features cartridge sealed bearings for durability, longevity and serviceability. At the back a cromoly axle and cassette rotor also offer durability. Its 28H design provides incredible lateral stiffness. The rims are machined for smooth braking. These wheels are also tubeless compatible should you choose to upgrade. IRC Serac XC tyres offers low rolling resistance aswell as maximum traction. In a stable 2.1 size.Sugar provides a fantastic value bike which is fun and comfortable to ride with an astounding spec.Available Sizes:      (Please select a size)    Extra Large Large Medium Small
