Nakamichi Soundspace11
A new product concept for Home Theater System integration that requires simply the addition of a television monitor to create a comprehensive, and high-performance audio/video system. Based on the design-driven SoundSpace product platform, the SoundSpace 11 provides a stunning combination of versatile features, functions, outstanding sonic performance, and sleek, modern styling. The SoundSpace 11 consists of a sensational combination of cosmetically matched components, including a 5-disc MusicBank™ DVD/CD Changer A/V Tuner/Processor Unit featuring Dolby Digital™ and DTS™ Surround Decoding, 5-Channel Satellite Speaker System, Dual, Active Subwoofer System and a learning-type LCD touch-panel Remote Control. The SoundSpace 11 is unlike any home theater system you have ever seen or heard. It's unparalleled design and sonic performance will enhance any room you dedicate to music and movies.
The circuitry for pre-amplification, AM/FM tuner, surround processing, component connection and signal routing is housed within the A/V Tuner/Processor Unit. The Tuner/Processor Unit receives A/V source signals via dual coaxial / optical digital inputs. The signals are then converted into analog using high-precision, accurate 24-bit D/A converters. 5 video, (composite and S-type) and 7 Audio inputs ensure ample room for system setup and future expansion. An optical digital output for connection to, for example, a MD recorder is located on both the Main Unit and the A/V Tuner/Processor Unit. Superior surround decoding performance is the result of high-precision 24-bit D/A converters on all 6 channels (5.1) providing high fidelity sound and wide dynamic range in all processing modes: DTS, Dolby Digital (AC-3) and Dolby Pro-Logic. Three mode Ambience Synthesis (NATURAL, HALL, STADIUM) circuitry is also available for effective sound enhancement of mono or two-channel sources. A sleep timer function can tu
All five speaker units (Front L/R, Center, Surround L/R) employ the same 2-way, 3-driver configuration to allow for realistic and accurate reproduction of DTS, Dolby Digital (5.1) and Dolby Pro Logic encoded cinema soundtracks. The 25mm soft dome tweeter is located between the 80mm bass/midrange drivers in the classic "D'Apilito" configuration. This method results in excellent high-frequency dispersion in both horizontal and vertical directions as well as assuring superb localisation and imaging.
To capture and reproduce all musical nuance and the visceral impact of low frequency effects, dual active subwoofers are employed. By incorporating a highly efficient 20cm driver mounted in a bass-reflex type enclosure, dynamic reproduction of low frequencies (below 120Hz) as required in the Dolby Digital format is assured. Each enclosure houses the amplifiers for entire system (3 channels on one, 4 on the other) mounted on the subwoofer's rear panel. By doing so, all speakers are perfectly matched to the power amplifiers, achieving the best possible fidelity and dynamics. Also, by using two independent subwoofer systems, the ideal "twin-mono" configuration is achieved, providing excellent bass frequency propagation and unprecedented placement flexibility.
Nakamichi's exclusive and highly acclaimed Harmonic Time Alignment™ amplifier topology is used on all channels to minimize the time delay between the amplified music signal and its distortion component. This unique approach to amplifier design results in remarkable definition, dynamics and accuracy throughout the entire audio spectrum. The five, high-powered HTA amplifier channels are capable of delivering amazingly high sound pressure levels with clarity due to creative engineering techniques and optimised matching of speaker and amplifier design. Nakamichi's proprietary MusicBank system is employed in the SoundSpace 11 as both a DVD and CD changer The MusicBank mechanism provides the convenience of direct loading or the changing of discs without the use of a tray or magazine. After a motor-driven panel opens to reveal the DVD/CD loading slot, simply load discs, one-by-one, and they are stored internally, ready to be quickly accessed for playback. Up to five DVDs, Video CDs or audio CDs can be store
Capable of superimposing visual icons on the television screen, the On-Screen Display functions not only acts a useful guide to setup and calibration, but also as a way of visually confirming the operational status of the various system components.
The SoundSpace 11 was designed to provide audio video entertainment not only in the room where it is installed but also in another remote location. Its multi-source capability makes it possible to select different A/V sources for each of the two rooms; for example a DVD movie may be watched in the main system room (primary), while an FM radio broadcast is played in another (secondary). Three multi-zone modes are available:
Main: The user in the primary system room can make program source selections without changing the source in the secondary location.
Remote: The user in the primary system room can make program source selections for the secondary location without changing the source in the primary room.
Both: The user in the primary system room can make the same program source selection for the secondary location.
Unequaled operational convenience is achieved by the use of two separate remote controls. The full-function remote is a wireless, infrared, learning-type remote designed to be placed on a tabletop. All major command keys, including power on/off, source selection, DVD/CD player transport functions are large and logically arranged on a touch-sensitive panel. The LCD panel is back-illuminated for easy operation in low light conditions and integrated display icons visually display operational status and system condition. Furthermore, infrequently used keys are hidden beneath a panel to prevent the disturbance of critical settings and to make everyday operation easier. A compact "egg" shaped remote is also supplied to provide a simple way of controlling all major system functions. Ergonomically designed, this sub-remote fits precisely in your hand, and due to the oversized push-buttons, makes "blind" operation possible.
The SoundSpace 11 offers, numerous installation possibilities, limited only by your imagination. To facilitate the wall mounting of the Front, Center and Surround Speakers as well as the Main DVD/CD Changer Unit, rear panel "keyholes" are provided for surface mounting against any flat plane. Front, Center and Surround speakers can also be wall mounted with the optional angle-adjustable brackets that can help optimize the speaker system's sound field propagation (SA-6). For the most sophisticated look, cosmetically matching aluminum pedestals provide a freestanding support for the Main Unit, Front and Surround speakers. In addition to the standard grille cloth color gray, three additional colors (green, blue, burgundy) are available to best match the speakers to your room decor
